What is the typical operating temperature of a melt pump?
The name melt pump, I believe that only a part of the people have heard of it, and do not know much about it. Today melt pump manufacturers will talk to you about the working temperature of the melt pump.
Melt pump for extrusion working temperature can generally reach 300 degrees, can meet most of the plastic melt transportation requirements, some high temperature melt pump can reach 500 degrees. The working pressure of the melt pump is usually expressed in three parameters, i.e. high inlet pressure, high outlet pressure and high differential pressure. Ordinary melt pump inlet pressure is big, 10~12MPa, outlet pressure is big, 35MPa, big differential pressure is 25MPa. the series of high pressure melt pump inlet pressure is big 20MPa, outlet pressure is big 70MPa, differential pressure is big 50MPa.
Melt gear pumps do not need a large inlet pressure, generally 3-5MPa. require a greater inlet pressure of high-viscosity fluids. In order to strengthen the extrusion screw molten material mixing effect, sometimes need high screw head pressure, increase the return flow, this time you can increase the supply pressure. Higher or lower inlet pressures can be easily obtained by adjusting the upstream equipment (e.g. extruder) to match the flow rate of the melt pump. A higher differential pressure reflects the pressure building capacity of the melt pump. The sum of the inlet pressure and the differential pressure is the outlet pressure. The size of the outlet pressure depends on the shape of the port, the viscosity of the molten material, the flow rate and so on. Users can choose the working temperature of the melt pump. Under the working pressure, it is not necessary to choose too high a grade in order to meet the requirements of use. Melt pumps can work normally under high temperature and high pressure, so it must rely on the special materials, structure and corresponding power supply device to support the melt pump. Melt pumps with high temperature and pressure resistance ratings cost more.
