A rubber extrusion melt pump is a positive-displacement conveying device designed for high-viscosity, highly elastic rubber materials. It is typically installed between the extruder and the die head. The pump utilizes meshing gears to create a continuously varying sealed volume, enabling smooth conveyance, continuous pressurization, and stable, metered delivery of the rubber melt.
Unlike conventional conveying methods, melt pumps do not rely on fluctuations in screw pressure to move the material. Instead, they deliver a fixed displacement, effectively isolating pressure pulsations generated by the extruder. This ensures that the rubber entering the die maintains relatively stable pressure and flow rates, thereby improving product consistency and production performance.
Why Is a Melt Pump Necessary for Rubber Extrusion?
I. Smooth Pressure Control to Improve Product Dimensional Consistency
Rubber is a typical high-viscosity, highly elastic material that is significantly affected by screw speed, feed conditions, and temperature fluctuations. In traditional extrusion processes, pressure tends to fluctuate, leading to unstable product dimensions, wall thickness deviations, and reduced surface quality.
