The main reasons for melt pump leakage
The main causes of melt pump leakage include worn or damaged seals, improper installation, excessive pressure, influence of melt properties, pump body wear and thermal deformation. Specifically:
1, seal wear or damage: melt pumps commonly used sealing forms such as mechanical seals and packing seals in long-term operation will be worn due to friction, resulting in seal failure. In addition, seals in high temperature, highly corrosive environment will be aging, accelerating the leakage.
2, improper installation: the installation process if the seals are not installed in place, such as static and dynamic ring is not correctly centered or packing winding is not uniform, will lead to poor sealing, leakage phenomenon. In addition, the pump body and pipeline, connectors between the bolt fastening is not uniform or does not meet the specified tightening torque, will also make the connection part of the gap, resulting in leakage.

5, the pump body wear: long-term delivery of melt will lead to the internal parts of the pump such as gears, shafts, pump chamber wear, increase the gap, resulting in melt leakage from the gap.
6, thermal deformation: high temperature environment, the pump body and seals will be deformed due to thermal expansion, if the thermal expansion is not uniform, it will lead to a decline in sealing performance, triggering leakage problems.
Preventive measures include regular inspection and maintenance of seals, ensuring proper installation, controlling the working pressure within a reasonable range, selecting suitable melt characteristics, timely replacement of worn parts and taking appropriate cooling measures in high-temperature environments**.
